Three Squares Studio x Nike SB Stefan Janoski "Lemon Twist"

by Kevin Doohan in , ,

Copped this pair of Stefan Janoskis in the tough to find "Lemon Twist" colorway at @NikeSantaMonica on April 20, 2013.  They are BRIGHT as you can see in the "on feet" shot below.  The colorway is a collaboration between Three Squares Studio and Nike SB.  The white insoles in these kicks have the Three Squares Studio logo printed on them.  I followed Eric Koston's lead and added a tye-dye print on this pair from the pros at Salvation Malibu to make them even more unique.

The Lemon Twist Janoskis were popping up across the internet for a while before release.  Stefan Janoski was spotted wearing a pair probably a year before release.  On March 29 before the official release date, I saw a tye-dye customized pair on Salvation Malibu's facebook page.  Salvation printed the kicks on their machine for legendary skateboarder Eric Koston.  I loved them so decided to do the same with my pair.  It took a couple weeks but I was able to pick them up finished in Malibu on May 4, 2013.  They came out awesome!

Nike Lunar Force 1 Low City Pack "London" QS

by Kevin Doohan in , , ,

Copped these Lunar Force 1s from end. (@endclothing) in April 2013 shortly after they dropped.  I'm not sure if stateside stores will have them and the proce was pretty good even with shipping from London included.  Some people love these and some hate them.  They're polarizing for sure but I really dig them.  The plaid is definitely more Scotland than England.  No matter...it's really unique and looks awesome to me.  Definitely going to snap necks when I wear these whether people are impressed or disgusted. :)

The outsole is translucent green and the sole is a pearly white lunarlon.  It's kind of weird because the sole doesn't cover the whole bottom of the shoe.  It's like the green pieces are pasted on to the lunarlon so the lunarlon comes through all over the bottom. I hope the soles hold up. I could see the lunarlon getting beat up.  The entire upper including the tongue is gym red-gorge green tartan plaid.  Laces are green and swoosh and heeltab are green suede.  The swoosh is doubled (backed) with metallic silver.  The lining and the tongue tab are both a synthetic khaki material.  Would be nicer if it was leather...  They also did something cool with the lace stays adding red metal eyelets to all of them except the top where they used silver metal.

Nike Air Force 1 Low NRG "XXX Year of the Dragon (white)" QS

by Kevin Doohan in ,

This is my second pair of 2012 Year of the Dragon Air Force 1s.  I wasn't even really aware of this pair until my friend Brendan Prouty told me that he wanted to cop them.  Once I checked them out, I was impressed.  This is a really cool pair of kicks with a white reptile print embossed on the leather covered midsole and across the entire white leather upper.  The soles are translucent blue with iridescent base visible beneath.  The heel tab is iridescent goldish color and the swoosh is doubled (outlined) with the same material.  The tongue also is bordered with iridescent gold and has a custom dragon embroidered tongue tag.  The insole is also special for this edition and the kicks are lined with white leather.  Totally stoked to cop this pair for $40 under retail on eBay by just being patient.

Nike Air Force 1 Downtown QS "Black History Month 2013"

by Kevin Doohan in , ,

Copped this pair for retail at Nike Santa Monica on February 9, 2013.  They're a really sweet limited edition.  This is my first pair of Air Force 1 "Downtowns".  The Downtown AF1 has a similar design but an overall lower profile than the traditional Air Force 1 has.  The new design takes the AF1 further from sport and more into the lifestyle territory it has been in for a long time.

The hazelnut leather on these kicks is buttery saddle leather and it covers the entire shoe including the midsole.  The sole is clear with total orange accents.  Midsole stitching is also total orange and stitching around the furry swoosh (horsehair?) is also total orange.  The dubrae and tongue tag are both total orange with the 2013 Black History Month (BHM) logo.  The lining is total orange and the heel tab is also total orange with black african style embroidery.

Nike Air Force 1 Low NRG " XXX Year of the Dragon (multi)" QS

I didn't cop these when they were released because the colorway was a little too obnoxious.  However, the colorway grew on me over time and the overall design on this quickstrike pair of Air Force Ones is really nice.  I was able to cop these new in the box with original receipt (from wish in Atlanta) from an eBay seller for less than original retail.

There are a ton of pics of this shoe on the Nike corporate site if you want to check them out.  This shoe design was inspired by the Chinese dragon boat concept.  From the Nike site:

The overall design echoes that of a dragon boat, evoking a red boat floating on a blue lake, with the golden swoosh emphasizing the nobility and majesty of the dragon.

Starting at the bottom, the sole is translucent blue.  Midsole has a white leather wrap.  I love it when Nike does premium wraps on the midsole.  Stitching on the midsole is teal stitching.  The upper is Sport Red, Metallic Gold, and bright blue.  The swoosh is metallic gold with bright blue backing.  The outside of the toebox, lace stays, heel tab, and lining are all the bright blue color.  Toebox and the rest of the upper not mentioned is in sport red suede with an embossed scale pattern.  The dubraes are the pearlized XXX for the AF1s 30th Anniversary.  The tongue is multicolor woven and the tongue tab uses the same colors for a dragon graphic.  The insole has a dragon design using the same colors.  The heel tab has the character for "dragon" in ancient oracle bone script embroidered in gold.
